Backache relief recipe | Huiji ‘Happy Family’ Stewed Pork Belly


Garlic: 5 cloves
Shallots: 5 cloves
Pork belly: 500g (washed, cut into pieces)
Sesame spicy fermented bean curd : 6 pieces (crushed)
Black mushroom: 5 big pieces (soaked, halved)
Black fungus: 25g (soaked, sliced)
Sea cucumber: 150g (soaked, cut into pieces)
Fish Maw: 25g (soaked, cut into pieces)
Lotus root: 1 section (skinned, sliced)
Red dates: 15 pcs (seeded, washed)
Huiji Waist Tonic 1-2 cups (Huiji measuring cup)


Oyster sauce: 2 tbsp
Dark soya sauce: ½ tsp
Sesame oil: 1 tsp
Sugar : ½ tbsp
White pepper: ¼ tsp
Hua tiao wine: 2 tbsp
Huiji Waist Tonic 1-2 cups (Huiji measuring cup)


  1. Heat 2 tbsp of oil, saute garlic and shallots till fragrant
  2. Stir in marinated pork belly, fry till fragrant
  3. Slowly add in black mushroom,black fungus, sea cucumber,fish maw, lotus root, and red dates in the order, stir fry till fragrant
  4. Add in seasoning and mix well
  5. Pour in enough water and bring to a boil, cover and cook on medium heat, till meat is tender, dish onto serving plate.
  6. Pour in Huiji Waist Tonic and serve
